Andrew Stephenson

Director/Principal Singing Teacher

Andrew is a graduate of LIPA (Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts) and in April 2008 set up VoiceAbility Limited. VoiceAbility has been developed after five years of Andrew teaching as a sole trader. Through VoiceAbility Andrew offers high quality training in technique based singing lessons. Andrew uses international singing techniques to achieve the highest results possible from lessons. VoiceAbility also offers acting tuition from highly experienced tutors that have been in the industry as professionals and they can pass on their experiences to students. As a sole trader and through VoiceAbility Andrew has taught at many local schools working with students on a one to one basis and in group situations.

In 2006 Andrew worked with Local Children on a project to raise money for BBC’s Children in Need. Andrew was Musical Director for the recording of the Song ‘Simple Things’ that was played on BBC Radio Merseyside.

Andrew has also worked with LIPA in a variety of projects. Andrew has worked on their coaching and mentoring performance ‘Changing Voices’. This was the final performance of LIPA’s CAMEO Project. Andrew was musical director for a project commissioned by the environment agency ‘How to Ruin the Family Business’. Andrew is excited by the news that in February 2009 it was announced that ‘Keep on Loving this world’ a song that Andrew has co-written with LIPA’s Ged McKenna is to be used as Liverpool’s theme song for the year of the environment. This song will be played at a variety of events in 2009 and include participation from local schools. Andrew is musical director for LIPA’s corporate team building days, the most recent working with staff from The Beatles Story museum.

Andrew is also a teacher on the LIPA 4:19 youth performing arts academy and is very proud to be one of very few staff that has taught on this programme since it started in 2003. Whilst on his degree at LIPA Andrew was also very fortunate to be given a Job as Musical Director at Greylock Summer Camp in Massachusetts, USA. Andrew was responsible for all the performances that the camp put on throughout their summer season.

Andrew is looking forward to a bright future for VoiceAbility Ltd as new and exciting project are coming in thick and fast!
