Graduate Singing Teacher
My name is Lauren Murray and I am twenty years old. I have been fortunate enough to have worked for VoiceAbility for a year now and it is the combination of the excellent standard of teaching with a personal and friendly teaching style which has made my time with here so worthwhile. Being a student myself, doing a BA in History at the University of Liverpool, I am aware of the importance a good teacher can make and it is this which makes me so determined to provide a professional yet enjoyable teaching experience.
I grew up with a musical background attending LIPA 4:19 for five years studying acting dancing and singing which laid the foundation for me wanting to become a singing teacher. I have performed in the Liverpool Empire theatre, University Gospel choirs and even ‘Stars In Their Eyes Kids’. It is this passion for all types of music which has encouraged me to teach a variety of musical styles from Pop Music to Musical Theatre. I pride myself in my high standard of teaching paralleled with a good relationship with my students and I have taught from one to one as well as with group work.
Having preformed publicly in plays and musicals from a young age I am subsequently aware of the zeal it can catalyse. This inspired me to work with children to relate this passion for music. I therefore worked at the ‘Music Madness’ summer school teaching children aged seven to eighteen. Furthermore just as rewarding I found my work at the Kendle Workshop at the Lake District in 2009. Here myself and Andrew Stephenson, the Director of VoiceAbility, taught school children gospel and got to watch their pride and enjoyment in later performing all they had learnt. This experience made me appreciate the gratification and confidence singing can bring and the value of VoiceAbility making a high level of singing training accessible to anyone with the enthusiasm. And it is with this passion with which I hope to enjoy many more years working with VoiceAbility.
